Climate Literacy Program for Students

Climate Literacy Program to High School Students Kishan Secondary Community School in Bardiya.


Service Description

On October 15, 2024, Women Welfare Foundation organized 3 hours long climate literacy session and workshops program targeting to students of Grade 11 and 12 of Kishan Secondary School of Bankatti Village in Tharkurbaba Municipality of Bardiya District Nepal. 65 students participated in the program. Our program manager ‘Garima Pant’ highlighted the topic of climate change, mitigation methods, waste management and their individual and collective efforts to make a positive change in their village and communities. Some of the students also shared their stories on the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. Overall, the session was very fruitful and most of the students expressed that they gained valuable learning about topics related to interrelationship between gender and climate, carbon tax, sustainable development goals and carbon footprints etc. A group of students also showcased what climate change is in the form of art. Beside this the school administration also thanked Women Welfare Foundation for the learning program to their students and mentioned that these types of programs should be welcomed with open heart in the future as well.
